Media Ripping

This is the longest part of the process. Ripping your media to the computer. When I got an ipod years back, I ripped all of my cd's, so I didn't have to go thru that. Simple drag and drop to the media server. DVD's are another story. I for one was not a dvd fan. I would only buy them if I knew I would watch them more than one time. Therefore, I had about 60 dvds. I didn't have the same rule for my kids. We had about 40-50 for them. I proceeded to look for a dvd program that would make this process easy. I had a program called DVD Copy Pro. This I found out didn't work with Windows 7. So I had to search for something else. I found a free on trial program called DVD Fab. The trial was supposed to last 30 days, but I was able to erase and download it again many times, until I was actually done ripping all of my dvd's. It did finally stop working on me, but I liked it so much, I went ahead and bought it. Ripping 1 dvd takes up to 30 minutes, depending on the size. Just change them to an .avi or .wmv, whatever format you like and save them to the media center. I set up categories, Kids, Movies, TV shows, Documentaries, and sub-categories in each. Makes it a lot easier to view with the device I use to stream them, I explain this in a later post. So, you can do the math, 30 minutes, times 110 or so dvd's. It took a long time. I would spend my nights after the kids went to bed ripping dvd's, weekends, I would make sure there was one always working while I was doing weekend stuff. I finally finished and can now just do them one by one as I acquire them!

Sleep Over Part 1

We let Alex have her friend Larkin over for a sleep over last night. She didn't go to bed until 1045pm. Then was up numerous times during the night. Yes, this is an early morning post, Larkin was up at 545am. Sleep Over part 1 may be the only edition ever!

Funny Statement

Alex came up with a great one the other day. The living room was a mess and she told Michelle that Daddy needed dark glasses. When Michelle asked why, she said so that Daddy couldn't see the mess when he got home!

KIVA Kicknic Was a Great Time

Group we hang out with in town, outdoor activities for families. Today was a kickball/picnic event. Fun time, a little hot, luckily the hike was a short one before lunch. Check Out KIVA's Site

Played a fun game called What time is it Mr. Skunk. Had 2 kids with spray bottles, the would call out time, say 9 o clock. Other players line up and move 9 steps towards them. Sprayers draw them in closer until it is midnight and then they can spray. Players have to run back to the home base area. Similar to Mother May I, but fun with water on a hot day!

Andrew tried Pita chips after he said the were "disgusting", without ever trying them beforehand.

Loved Walt Disney World

Greatest Vacation Ever!! Had a blast with my family. Went to Magic Kingdom Mon and Wed. Animal Kingdom Tue. Hollywood Studios Thur, and Epcot Fri.

Kids had a pic taken with every character, Minnie above. On the left, the army men from Toy Story were running down the street and one stopped to "interrogate" Andrew, or was it the other way around? On the right, sorry, couldn't resist, always wanted to be a Storm Trooper!

Favorite ride had to be Soarin'
